Understand the opportunity

Read the vacancy again and review the employer’s own website. Write down how your experience connects to the role and prepare a short, clear introduction. You do not need to memorise a speech; aim to explain what you do and why this opportunity interests you.

Prepare specific examples

Choose examples of solving a problem, working with others and learning something new. Explain the situation, your task, the action you took and the outcome. Be clear about your own contribution, and be honest about challenges and what you would improve.

Plan the practical details

Confirm the time, location or meeting link. For an online interview, test your audio and connection and charge your device. For an in-person meeting, plan your route and bring any documents the employer has requested. Keep a copy of the CV you submitted.

Make it a conversation

Listen carefully, pause before answering and ask for clarification when needed. Prepare questions about the day-to-day work, team expectations and the next steps. If you do not know an answer, say so and explain how you would approach finding a solution.
